RE: 06RSX-S vs 08CIVIC-Si
Stock for stock the new Si's spank any year of the type-s. Modding is a different story. The RSX can easily make more power than an Si, the biggest reason being the Si's drive by wire system limiting the ability to tune and accomodate mods other than bolt-ons.
Not true, the si does have an advantage having lsd but the rsx is rated with a few more hp too..
The new ones? They have a fair bit more power than even the Z1 motors, as far as the LSD goes, its rather insignificant on the straights with the DBW.

I don't know what school you went to, but 197hp is not "a fair bit" more than 201. In fact, it's less.
lol...ditto.

RE: 06RSX-S vs 08CIVIC-Si
Fanboys will be fanboys I suppose. The Si's come stock with a better exhaust manifold, intake manifold, and more slightly aggressive cams than the K20Z1. 3 things I'd consider the weaker points of the previous K20's. Of course the Hondata reflash's between the two shows both engines potential to the fullest without a custom tune.
On the flipside, the K20Z3 in the newer Si's lack the abillity to be tuned other than the reflash. Which mod-wise is the limitation.
TS - About the only mods you can really do to the Si, as far as power goes, are intake, exhaust, and header, in addition to the reflash.
197 is still not "a fair bit more" than 201.

RE: 06RSX-S vs 08CIVIC-Si
Dyno parameters, variances, corrections, and conditions over all change. Much less what they advertise. Can you come up with a logical explanation as to why a stock engine can make less power with an intake manifold on it that an older model gains power with?

Plain and simple, the RSX is tuned better from the factory. And there's not much variance in power output when you're measuring power directly at the crankshaft by the SAE standards. There's a reason they're called standards. You really are a fanboi.

RE: 06RSX-S vs 08CIVIC-Si
The 05 RSX was rated at 210hp, and the SI at that time at 200. With the new standards it dropped to 201, and 197hp. The Z1 has about 10 more hp from the factory than the Z3. There is some type of balancer on the SI's crankshaft to reduce vibrations that robs power. The Z1 is the one with slightly more agressive cams. The Z3 has the better IM, but can easily be put on the Z1.
If you plan to modify/race/track your car, get the RSX-S. It has more available for it, and can be an N/A beast with basic bolt on's and a K-pro tune. You can always add an LSD. They don't make the RSX anymore and SI's are all over the place.
When I had my RSX-S stock and reflashed no SI could touch me. Maybe I was a much better driver but I think I had a really good car. I also smoked the shit out of those Cobalt SS (stock) The new ones are badass though with 260hp 260Tq turbo.

Not...In 05 the RSX was rated at 210hp, then to standards it dropped to 201 in 06. The new civic didn't come out till 06 rated at 197. The 05 civic si was the EP3 rated at 160hp. The civic's are cute but between the ugly a$$ dash & the ten million of them i see every day. I chose the RSX.

all things being equal, it doesn't matter if its, stock or tricked out. An Integra beats a Civic hands down every time. Thats why its an Acura, Honda + Better.

RE: 06RSX-S vs 08CIVIC-Si
I own both.
Well, I just sold the 06 si.
I couldn't get it to lose against the S.(stock for stock)
I drove both and the Si was just a hair faster.
But since the s has been out since 02 there is far more after market support.
there aren't many si or s here. I had the first si here.
I really like the look of the s a lot better though.
I guess it comes down to what your future plans are. I'm sure there will be plenty of after market support with years to come.
Personally, I like the S overall. That's why it's still parked in the driveway

RE: 06RSX-S vs 08CIVIC-Si
if you chip the ecu on the newer civics you can run down stock type s's all day. the rsx type s's are good but the 6spd trannys are shit.
The new SI's trans arent exactly the best either. I work for a Honda Dealer in service and see them in for trans service/diags every week. I own an 05 rsx type-s with over 50k and have yet to have any tarans problems. Ive even ran a few new civic both 4 dr and 2dr and stomped both! Had them both pissed off, lmao... So id go RSX-S if i were you

That's why you go turbo and with a base 5 speed transmission.
if i was boosted id definatly run the 5 speed trans from the base model or ep....unless ur like my buddy spinnin to 5th gear to 110, yes hes boosted

RE: 06RSX-S vs 08CIVIC-Si
THE RSX IS THE BETTER ONE... THE RSX CAN WALK PAST THE CIVIC. DEPENDS ON HOW MUCH YOU WANT TO SPEND BUT THE SAME AMOUNTIN BOTH CARS... THE RSX WINS EVERY TIME! I HAVE AN 02 RSX-S AND NO CIVIC CAN HANG ALL MOTOR. THE PARTS ARE A LITTLE CHEAPER FOR THE CIVIC, BUT PERSONALLY I LIKE THE RSX.
IT WAS BEFORE I WENT TO THE CF & BLACK LOOK. I AM PLANNING ON POWDER COATING THEM FOR 250.00 BUT JUST HAVEN'T DONE IT YET. IT WILL STILL RUN, EVEN WITH CHROME!

I was waitin for that
RSX-S. they have not yet cracked the ECU on the new Si for k-pro, so like someone stated earlier, you can only get a reflash, which doesn't compare to k-pro at all. plus I don't like the pedal feel from the drive-by-wire system on the new Si's. and the new Si has been known to pop out of 3rd gear!

RE: 06RSX-S vs 08CIVIC-Si
it depends the only reason i would look into the new si is for the 4 door model ( i have a child ). but the rsx looks nicer and more agressive.
also if you are looking to mod it do your homework.
the new si doesnt have as much out as the rsx does.
overall looks and everything i would go type-s
