3g h22a swap discussion

I am starting this thread as a general talk about h22 swap in to 3rd gens. Like what people have done as addons and what there problems have been and how they solved them. Not to many questions. remember if you need t post your own thread.

Please stay on subject.

RE: 3g h22a swap discussion

great swap.... but not worth the money spent IMO

i just dont think spending 4-5k for only 170hp to the ground when you can build a F22, boost it and make over 240hp for half the cost

ok time to crunch the numbers sir....

$2500 for H22a with trans (not including shipping)
$500 for H22 mounts shipped
$200 for axles
$150 for OBD conversion (if you got a 88-89)
$170 Megan header (low budget and not all JDM motors come with one)
MAP sensor and Resistor Block [peak and hold, low resistance/impedance](You can use the 3rd gen but it will require rewiring because it will not be the same harness adapter) or get them on ebay $5-10.
USDM Fuel rail since JDM motor is on the oppisite side-$20
ECU.. not all JDM motors come with them $100-170 if you go chipped

any time you buy a new motor its wise to just do the following:
Change the timing belt and tensioner
Change the water pump and thermostat
Change the oil
Change the spark plugs
Change the distributor cap
Install new oil seals for the tranny
Install a new oil pan gasket.
Install a new fuel filter and oil filter installed.

shall i keep going???

ok, I see. Well, I still say that you don't need half the stuff on that list.
Also, all those prices are at absolute highest I have ever seen.

The most anyone should spend on an H22 swap into a 3rd gen is $3000.

No more than that.

so are you telling me that all the ppl that have done these swaps on preludepower.com (the largest 3rd gen prelude site out there) that they are all full of donkey doo doo???

are you gonna discuss your reasoning as to why you dont think its that much???? and for 3k thats a really crappy H22....i mean ya you can go to a pull a part place and score a H22 rather decently priced but you dont have any idea what that motor has gone thru.... whats the conditon inside the motor... true miles... etc etc. so please explain to me why you think that 3k swap is easy as pie

RE: 3g h22a swap discussion

it is about 5grand totall. could be higher than that acutally depending on how in depth your starting the swap. iv got a 4th gen with a built h22, and the first time i swapped that, it was the most amazing thing id ever driven at the time.
- on a side not, my buddies got a h22 swapped 3rd gen. its not built like mine, but it still gets absolutely no traction throughout most of the first gears. thers something really gratifying about the tires spinning because the power to weight......
