A/C problems with your RSX?

Ok so 2 weeks ago my 02 RSX was in the shop because my a/c compressor went out. Now after I got it fixed I was semi pleased with it...I mean I live in Texas and it kinda kept me cool. Now this week rolled around and my a/c isn't working anymore....

Maybe its not keeping my car cool because its too hot outside?
I don't really know what the heck is up with it but its pissing me off....

Has anyone else have/had a/c problems on your RSX?

RE: A/C problems with your RSX?

Ok, first no problems here because its an 06.

Second, obviously take it back where it was last worked on.

And third, a human feels most comfortable at around 72 degrees or so. The A/C system usually will cool the cabin 20 degrees below the outside temp. so if it's 100 outside, inside it will be 80, not at your comfortable level, but you damn well could feel the difference. (that's why some people still feel hot even with their A/c at full blast and running for awhile, since they're not at their comfortable level)

Maybe that's what your problem is and there really isn't anything to do about that.

But take it back to have them check it out, anyways.

Dagg neither did I but it makes total sense. If anything, check your cabin filter. I just changed mine and it made a huge difference!

The fact that you just paid someone to fix it, and now it doesn't work I would make their life a living hell until it was working Smile

How much did it cost to fix your A/C Compressor?

I turned my A/C on last night because my mom was riding with me and it wasn't blowing cold air. Going to have to take it in Sad. And of course today is supposed to be the hottest day of the year.

Not exactly true, a good a/c will come out the vents in the 38-48 degree range.

There is a problem. Ask exactly what was changed. You could have several problems. WHen your ac goes it it blows crap threw your system, along with the compressor they should of changed the expansion valve & the drier. If you have a leak and not enough 134 in it, the compressor won't even kick on. A good set of gauges will tell you what is wrong & would be worth while to have.

Well with warranty it cost me around $130.00 but the compressor and whatever else it came with originally cost $1,300.00 brand new :-\

It's crazy expensive!

When I take my car into the shop I'll ask them what they changed.

$1,300? fuck that. I'll go without A/C if they try to tell me I need a new compressor. When I turn it on at idle it sounds like it kicks in and the rpms drop a tiny bit, so I'm hoping it's just the fluid.

I spent MORE than that to fix the a/c in my wife's 300m! (STILL much cheaper than another car ... GOTTA have A/C in VA!)

Not true at all. Today it was 94f. We charged my buddies nissan truck with 134. In 94f weather it's coming out of his vents at 38-39f. My civic which i'm having problems with it's 60f out the vents but until i can get the right r12 high pressure hose i can't diagnose it.

So I got the call last night. They found the leak in my system. It's in the actual compressor. Said it looked like a rock nailed it. $770 to replace it (plus $260 to diagnose/recharge which I already paid). I told them not to fix it, I don't need A/C that bad. Plus winters on its way.

If you hate the cold you need to come down south, it's always warm here. I end up wearing shorts about ten months out of the year. You do have to like it warm though. But it beats the cold of the windy city.

take your car in and tell them that it doesnt work and you want them to put dye in your condensor so see if you have any leaks and if you dont make them recharge your A/C and you probably shouldnt take your car there anymore if they "fix" your car and your shit doesnt work a week later spend the extra money and take it to a dealership not a hack shop

lol that's a good question. Winters are brutal here. It just makes summer that much better... and IMO, there's no better summer than a Chicago summer (especially in my neighborhood). If only it were longer.

I actually remember hitting a pretty big rock the day it stopped working... like softball size. Big enough that I couldn't avoid it, it hit under my car, then bounced up and I could see the suburban behind me take the rock in its front bumper.

I love warm. I'd rather be in hot humid sweating my ass off weather than cold. My parents have a house in Phoenix. Love it out there. Wish I could work out some kind of 3 months in Chicago during summer/9 months in AZ during winter plan.

If there is a hole in his compressor none of that will matter.
Most refrigerants have dye in the can already.

So I got the call last night. They found the leak in my system. It's in the actual compressor. Said it looked like a rock nailed it. $770 to replace it (plus $260 to diagnose/recharge which I already paid). I told them not to fix it, I don't need A/C that bad. Plus winters on its way.

That sounds like a crock of sh1t. A rock to crack the housing, i would think you'd have to shoot it.

I actually remember hitting a pretty big rock the day it stopped working... like softball size. Big enough that I couldn't avoid it, it hit under my car, then bounced up and I could see the suburban behind me take the rock in its front bumper.

If you hate the cold you need to come down south, it's always warm here. I end up wearing shorts about ten months out of the year. You do have to like it warm though. But it beats the cold of the windy city.

I love warm. I'd rather be in hot humid sweating my ass off weather than cold. My parents have a house in Phoenix. Love it out there. Wish I could work out some kind of 3 months in Chicago during summer/9 months in AZ during winter plan.

Wow thats crazy but then again we don't have rocks like that, gravel is whats a pain down here. I can pass on those cold temps. Our winters are great, i actually get to wear shorts 10-11 months out the year.

That's ridicolously cold..I've never sat in A/C that cold.

My RSX-S & C5 run about that cold too. It's hot as hell down here so the a/c is a must.
