RE: Anybody tried ebay coilovers?
you might be able to find a set from a good brand that's slightly used for a good price
if buying used doesn't bother you that is
just beware of tein knockoffs on ebay
my buddy got some for her integra and they were unbelievably brittle. one cracked within 3 days :/

I wouldn't get them. Take those 18's off your civic those are too big. Get some 16's or 17's.

I dont mind buying used at all unless I can tell their in bad shape. Ive seen some that say they say jdm but honestly I dont even see something on ebay thats jdm going for 15 bucks. But I could be wrong. Idk

Lol ah the "just take them off". Yeah I could take em off but then if I got 17's then my car would be an inch lower and I would never get out of my driveway. And also I dont have the money to buy coilovers let alone new rims and tires. But thanks anyway.

i have stock suspension with max speed coil overs. my bro n law, the previous owner, put them on. adjusts height good. go to your local import shop and ask them. if not then get some ground control coilovers. if u dont want to run stock shocks, get some kyb's or something like that with ground control coil overs. shouldnt cost u no more than 600 with that set up. my cousin had a setup on his 97 ex and it worked great for him. think he spent about 500.
my first dohc vtec swap. 3rd d16y7 swap. LOL

I got some no names off ebay ($50) and they're actually pretty good. I'd recommend Dropzones though - Progressive ones and you should be good. Whats important is your shocks! Eventually you'll need to upgrade them!

dead shocks feel like everytime you hit a bump it sounds like a hammer slamming into your car real hard hitting sound.

RE: Anybody tried ebay coilovers?
Another question. Is it true that when you lower your car you cant just take it to like any local shop (walmart) to have it aligned, you have to go to a special shop just to have that done? I heard that but dont know wether or not its true.
You can go anywhere to have it aligned. You dont need anything special. Just have them fix the toe. If you have to get a camber kit to sleep better at night...get one. They will be able to set that too. It's easy.
About your question about dead shocks...the car will bounce a lot. The job of a damper (shock) is to damp the springs vibrations. If it can't, then the spring is free to run wild.

Alright, I just heard that and thought it sounded pretty stuipd but I wasnt for sure.
Oh my cars pretty stiff, not much bouncing so their not dead. Thats good.

RE: Anybody tried ebay coilovers?
I bought a cheap set off ebay for 40-50. I ended up going with springs and sold them to a friend with a del sol. He put them on and loved them up until his car was stolen and never seen agian.

RE: Anybody tried ebay coilovers?
I'll have to dig up the articles but if you plan on coil overs only go with known good brands. Lots of the Taiwanese stuff has been giving way even on street cars.
I now you wanna go up and not down but after reading all the articles on 8thcivic seriously changed my mind. I'm using regular springs with higher spring rates and some nice struts instead.
You should also read up on Tein too, they are just throwing together kits for the USDM now days. I know for the 8th gens Tein is total crap for big bucks.

Eibach is what I put mine on, Skunk2 is amazing stuff. Get a good set of Skunk2 and you can pull over 1G lateral on the skid pad.

RE: Anybody tried ebay coilovers?
Yeah, honestly Id say my shocks are probably dead since my car has been lowered to much. (Due to the previous owner, not me) What's it feel like when you have dead shocks?
your exhaust scrapes on the ground everytime you go over a bump.
