I just noticed the OP said low boost.

Reason I was posting all those things about NA is because I didn't see the boost in the original post...and this is an all motor forum...

a gsr swap isn't that much more then a b16. I'd go with the b18c1. Lots more tq and midrange then the b16 and you'll see it in boost also. I know you say 300whp is your goal but you'd be best to go ahead and spend that lil extra for a b18c1 IMO. You'll reach the goal easier and have more there when you want to go higher. Now if you're wanting to do the overall budget build then i'd just do a ls swap. You can shop around and get them for dirt cheap and it'll hit 300whp on 10psi with a good tune and handle that all day and night reliable as shiot. Then if you want you can do a vtec head for around 300-400. That'd be much cheaper then just buying a b16 or b18c.

B18C1 and call it a day!!!
