Butterfly Issue.

Wus sup you guys, i just decided to start working on my car now. But I'm goin to stick with the basics though. I'm going to get some springs and shocks, but if I lowered my integra, do u think the rear tires will start to butterfly??? Going for a 1.2 inch drop using Tien Basics. Do you guys use camber kits???

I thought you meant butterfly as in the manifold butterflies. Anyway...

I never use camber kits. I never have uneven tire wear issues.

The thing most people don't understand is that toe is what wears your tires out. Camber will wear the tires out if you are ONLY going straight or doing burn outs all the time or something.

Camber wears tires very gradually. The sharp fall off in tread you see on most lowered hondas results from the car being out of toe.

Toe will change whenever camber, caster, ride height, or any other suspension geometry changes.

With a 1.2'' drop, you're looking to gain maybe about 1.5 deg of negative camber. That's nothing.

Get the springs on.
Drive the car for 1000 miles.
Get it aligned. Have them put the toe at factory numbers.

Don't forget to clock your bushings.

RE: Butterfly Issue.

I think B-Serious may have a point there. Since lowering my CRV I expected to have bad tire wear like I did on my last lowered CRV, but it hasn't been bad at all. Last time I was changing out used tires once a month. These have lasted me months with very little tire wear. Difference... I got an alignment immediately after dropping the car. I may be due for another one, but I'm still on those same tires and only rotated them once. Oh, plus I don't peel off at green lights or brake to slide.

You cant go wrong with some ground controls with koni yellows, but it all depends on what your going to use your car for.
