ThumbUp  Chipping my own ECU (PIX)

well after careful consideration, i thought i would just socket and chip my own ecu. i have crome on my laptop and have a jdm h22 basemap, so why pay someone 80 bux to do it for me when i could do it for less. here's the interesting part about the ecu i'm using. it's a gude p28 i bought from my friend for $75 ThumbUp i forgot that the ecu has already been socketed and chipped, but there are still some parts of the ecu that i have to desolder for the chipping kit i will be purchasing. i tried taking pix with my camera phone, but the resolution sucks ass. i'll be posting up pix as soon as my girl (CRX girl) gets her dig. cam. from her mom's.

Well, took a trip to my room and i thought i'd look for the camera just in case she had already got it and she did. Here's some pix. On the first one i forgot to turn off the flash. lol. second one is another view of where i had to desolder, and third one of the holes left after desoldering. I'll be adding new pix when i get the new parts soldered in.

- you can still do it. its just a typically chipped ecu.

ThumbUp  RE: Chipping my own ECU (PIX)

ThumbUp got my chip kit in today!!! i'm still waiting for my willem chip burner. i went to go put everything on my ecu and noticed that i still needed to take out some of the solder left on the circuit board lol and then i remembered that i didn't have any more desoldering braid Bang Head so now i gotta wait till tomorrow before i can put on the dip and zif socket. i'll post up pics of the ecu once i'm done.

RE: Chipping my own ECU (PIX)

well i guess it's been a while since i last updated this post. well, as it turns out i finished the ecu and burned a basemap to the chip. the launch control feature is freakin awesome!!!! the only problem is that my speed sensor doesn't work so the ecu can't disengage the launch control. lmao!!!!! hopefully pretty soon i will be purchasing a datalogging cable so i can check that out as well. for now, im going to erase the chip and change the launch control to 7300 so i can at least take it higher. lol. i also hooked up the apexi vafc so i could monitor voltage, rpm, and throttle. of course i will not be using the vafc to tune since i have turboedit for that. there are still a couple of things that i have to fix on the car, but so far everything is working out good.

btw, i was hoping to post pix up but i can't right now because our net got disconnected. the only thing i could do was update ya'll by using the net on my phone. maybe within the next couple of days when we get our net back on i can post pix and a vid of project red rex running.

RE: Chipping my own ECU (PIX)

as i mentioned above my speed sensor doesn't work so if i set the launch control to 4k that's as high as the motor will rev, period. hence the reason i set the launch control ridiculously high.
