fire = not good.
okay well i was driving to work the other day, and my sub stopped working. i figured something came loose, so i checked the connections on the amp, everything was fine, no blown fuse or anything. didn't really have time to diagnose the problem then.

well after work, i took a look at it. i looked under the hood where the wire is connected to the battery, come to find out the power wire caught on fire right at the fuse. the fuse is all kinds of melted and the wire turned from red to black.

well, any idea what could have caused it to do that?

it's a audiofonics 800W amp powering a rockford fosgate 12" sub. everything is hooked up right, grounded properly.. i was thinking some kind of power surge through the system, but unsure.

thanks for your help guys!

From an electricity sense, too much amperage going through that wire, not enough resistance...what exactly CAUSED that? Not too sure without looking at it myself..maybe shorted before a resistor or a load.

ya seems like to much power going through it for only 8 gauge, i would size up to 4 gauge (which im running with an 800 watt amp i believe)

RE: fire = not good.
this sounds like a similar problem, try looking at my thread for possible conclusions.
