I'm going to guess you mean Si. It's pretty easy really, I/H/E (intake/header/exhaust) is the basic starting point. These can net some power but, like most modern cars, you won't see real power til you tune it.

As I tend to live by the go big or go home philosophy I will withhold my opinions on what products to buy. If you like I can make a list of bang for the buck and top dog ideas. Just remember that it's all personal opinion and should be taken with a grain of salt.

Bah, forgot they made an SE from those years. I've been digging through hatches so much lately that I keep thinking Si, CX, DX blah. No matter, it's still I/H/E. Those will always be your launching point, and sorry bout the ole brain not kicking over Roberto93.

Yea its an SE not an SI. but i dont want to go over the top with this car because im going to sell in a couple of years so it wount be worth it. Im probably gonna start with a K&N cold air intake and then move on from that. Should i start with something else rather than the cold intake kit?

RE: just bought a 2005 honda civic se and wanted to make a upgrade
To clarify it more, the SE is Special Edition, it's still an EX or LX just with a couple more options. Plants the car between the Si and the EX/LX. I just forgot about that specific package.

ANYHOW, K&N makes great intakes, short ram or cold air that's all personal opinion. The power difference is not noticeable but the short ram is a touch cheaper on average. The cold air will make a bit more power, and won't have heat soak but the short ram will never bog. Either one and you will be happy.

For a exhaust, the Apexi World Sport 2 is an excellent exhaust that looks good and sounds good. The best price I found for that particular cat-back for your car is $455.00. Pretty good deal when you think about the quality of the system and the name on it. Here is a link to where I found it. (CorSport is ran buy some really good guys, they have a great reputation. If you have questions, call them and they can answer them for you, or will find the answer for you. It's rare to find a part cheaper than from CorSport, as shipping is free from them.)

Headers are a bit different. If you want to retain your factory cat for emissions, I would suggest the strup. It's 245 dollars and will free up some power, while allowing you to pass a sniffer (if they do that in Florida). If the emissions thing isn't a worry, then go with the DC race header. It's a good 4-1 race header for around 300 bucks. Here is where I found it, but I promise you can find it cheaper than these guys.

All in all you are looking at $800-1,000 in parts for a very nice running D17 daily. If you catch the bug with these mods let us know, we can get you onto some suspension mods and other cool ideas *cough*kseries*cough* lol

FYI, I spent nearly 900 bucks for my exhaust, granted I got some serious big boy custom made stuff but the point is you can complete three mods for the price of my one.

I was surfing around on youtube and found a vid that will show you almost exactly what your car will sound like if you go with my suggestions. This is a D16 Canadian Si (you have the D17) with a race header, cold air intake and Apexi World Sport 2 exhaust.
