RE: HID question
retrofit a set of headlights and it's 100% legal to have HIDs.

RE: HID question
The 9006 headlight base will not fit in a 9005 slot. The highbeams on an Integra are 9005 and the lowbeams are 9006. There are 9005 HID kits out there, but they are stutpid stupid bright in the highbeam slot due to the design of the lens and the shape of the reflector.

RE: HID question
Why would u want to leave the brights on? It's gonna look stupid to whoever ur trying to impress because ur blinding them.
I used 9005s in my integras 9006 lowbeam slot by using 9005 plugs. They will go into the slot with some finageling....so id assume it'd work vice versa also.
Again...fucking stupid idea tho. I hate when people leave brights on. I have a 15million candle power spotlight called the cyclops which I use to blind them back.
BTW...cops wouldn't bother u if u had 4300k hids which weren't rice burglar blue.

RE: HID question
Yeah, you're right, you CAN get the 9006 in the 9005 and the reciprocal but you have to do some massaging.
I'm rocking the 6000K HIDs. Definitely not rice-burgler. Especially from behind the lights. I can't complain in the least bit about the color when driving at night. There's a little blue in the light, but it helps out with the glare problem I have in my eyes when driving at night.
10,000K would be epic rice-burgler. 4300K is pretty damn close to standard halogen bulbs, so the cops probably wouldn't talk shit.

RE: HID question
My honest opinion is that 8000K is a little too blue for my taste. I wouldn't call it rice, but it's getting there.
Do you already have the kit? If not, check out google for some HID color comparisons. I love my 6000K set, but I'm sure the other drivers on the road don't because I haven't had time to reaim my lights down a little.

About half way down the page is a good example of what each bulb looks like. I have 6000k and it's almost too blue for me but most look at them and flip flop on if they have a blue tint or not.

RE: HID question
i have hyper white in my integra and its puts out amazing light and doesnt blind people. HIDs for high beams is pointless as bright as HID lows are.

RE: HID question
They may look almost too blueish on the streets, but when you go for a long drive at night on the highway, you will not regret purchasing them. At least I don't, not sure about you...

RE: HID question
Well I have a set of 4600k or w/e they are in a box too so if it gets too bothersome I have a fix. True things about colors, blues and greens are easy to focus on, in small doses. Problem with green is it robs you of depth perception.

RE: HID question
Oh totally true on the green aspect, but the blue-ish-ness of the 6000K is not harsh at all. It's closer to pure white than I expected.

RE: HID question
4300k is def. not like standard halogen bulbs. 4300K is the color used in OEM HIDs. So S2000s, Audis, TLs, TSXes, etc. all use 4300k. Those definately don't look like halogen bulbs to me.
4300K also puts out the most light. It's the closest thing to day light. The further you go from 4300k in either direction, the less the light output.
6K is too blue for me. 8K or above is...WAAAAAAAAAAY too blue for me. 4300k flips between white/blue/purple like the OEM HIDs do.
Stay classy.
BTW, when you look at pics online for HIDs, the pics always make the lights look less blue than they are in real life. So people go with 8 or 10k thinking it's going to be like OEM. Nope. It looks like an artificial blue. Look at the link provided above. If you have 6k or 8k bulbs...click on it and you'll see that the 6ks look SOOOO much whiter in the pics than they do in real life. Same with the 8k. I'd say that the 6k in real life looks a lot like the 8k does in the pics.
As far as people complaining about cops hassling you, you have to realize some things:
Cop lights are blue and red. If you have blue or red lights on your car...they're GOING to hassle you. I know why they're really hassling you. One of the reasons is how offensive the car looks to oncoming traffic. Some of these plug and play kits are installed by idiots who either aim them up or don't aim them well...causing blindness to whoever is in front of you. Blue lights are kind of annoying and distracting as is. There also seems to be more glare from the unclear and "foggy" appearance of say...8k HIDs.
Cops also use the lights as an excuse to hassle you to make sure you're not up to no good. Teenagers and rice burglars are usually up to no good. I used to be both...I was never up to any good. I got hassled ALL the time. I never got caught for anything because I wasn't stupid. But still.
If you're coming at a cop with burning blue lights looking like he's driving into Las Vegas and a big fart can muffler with a car scraping all over the ground and you look like you'd be smoking a J.....you're OBVIOUSLY going to be more likely to be hassled than the dude in a stock camry. If you were a cop, you'd target that type of fool as well.
Having a fixed up car is going to make you a target. Get over it or don't fix up the car. I don't blame the cops. A person in a beige Accord is less likely to street race or speed or cut people off than someone in a fixed up Honda. FACT.
It's like a celebrity complaining about papparazi. If you're famous, people are gonna want a peice of you. If you fix up your car and try to "stand out" so much like everyong claims they're trying to do...you're going to "stand out" to cops as well as the ladies whose panties you are trying to drop. Cops have eyes...that's not something you can fault them for.

RE: HID question
Ok as far as the standard halogen is concerned, I should have clarified that the Sylvania Silverstar Ultra halogen bulbs are 4100K. Very close to 4300K. If it weren't for the distinct clarity and refinement of the 4300K HIDs, most people would have trouble determining the difference between the two.

RE: HID question
It also varys slightly from maker to maker. My brand of 6000k may look more like your brands 5000k, and yes 4300k is OEM color. There are tons of tricks you can play with them to make them look different too. Swapping lenses for clearer lenses and such.

RE: HID question
I'm not talking about enthusiasts. I'm talking about the general public who doesn't particularly care about the clarity or color of their headlights. They wouldn't necessarily be able to tell the difference between 4100K halogens and 4300K HIDs if it weren't for the clarity of the light.

RE: HID question
I guess...I can kinda see what ur saying...but most people have no clue Wtf they're looking at period. The hids are also a shit ton brighter than silverstars.
If u put 2 cars next to each other...one with silverstars and one with 4300k hids, I think even my gf could tell the difference. If u forced someone to look, they'd be able to tell.
If they were left alone, I don't think they'd even think to notice.
And again...contrary to some belief, 4300k is the most light output.

RE: HID question
yeah but our projectors are made for HID so they dont have the clean cut off that the s2k and HID ready vehicle have. and just make sure to aim the driver side one. thats the one that causes the most trouble.

I beg to differ...
The cutoff with the HIDs in my '97 Integra is perfect spare for the fact that I need to polish the hell out of my front lenses. It really does look like they came factory.
I really need to aim them both down just a bit. I was driving behind a friend last night and he called me and told me we are going to reaim them today or tomorrow...
