RE: Honda Rumored to bring Civic Type R to US in 2010
That was VERY misleading.
The Eurospec type R looks NOTHING like the FD2 JDM Type R. It looks like an alfa romeo had sex with a rat. It's UGLY. It's also slower than the EP2 CTR and the FD2 CTR. It has a beam rear suspension (not independent). It sucks.
You want THAT parked on your driveway? I'd like to park a dump in it's chest.
The article also mentions something about the JDM CTR coming here as well? Confusing. I'd really like to see the FD2 CTR come here. Too bad it would be produced in very small numbers and they would sell for exorbitent profit margins. Some douches will buy them and put them in a garage and wash/wax them every weekend instead of ever using them on track. Then they'll stop making them and the cars will be stolen at the rate of 3 a day. Just like what happened to the ITR.

The EP3 looks about 50 million times better in most people's eyes. I've met maybe 1 person who likes that Euro Type R. He's a total immigrant. From :drumroll: scotland.
I've been friends with the kid a long time. He has the WEIRDEST taste. But hey...if you like it, sweet.
I just think that the performance probably won't be much greater than the current Si.

Ha yeah im not saying that its good looking or not
ill simply state that its definately time for honda to bring a new type R here
RE: Honda Rumored to bring Civic Type R to US in 2010
The FN2 vs. the FD2. Same track same driver. With some reading the FD2 actually had to run a wetter track than the FN2.
If, and I stress if, a Type R was to come to the US I would imagine it would be an FD2 with FA5 safety features strapped in. This would add over 300lbs to the FD2, slowing it down a good bit.
The FN2 has been bashed by most every Brit car show, as it's slower than the previous model and even slower around a track than the US FG2/FA5. It's not often the American market version beats out the UK version of the car. They just cut too many corners on the FN2 IMO, to the point that even a stock EP3 can hold it's own against a much more powerful car.
You should also note that the only body style of Civic available in Japan is the sedan.

They should bring a type R to the states. But not if it's going to be the European CTR. They can keep that. I'd rather just see more development on the current Si. That platform is great and it's Honda's ONLY sporty car at the moment. It'd be a stupid move to push that aside for some junk ass FN2.
If you have only ONE sporty car...it can't be the FN2. WTF am I supposed to do if I want to buy a new car in the next few years? I'd have to stray away from Honda. Weak.

i would like to see this too. Maybe some more developments from HFP or a track package option....
RE: Honda Rumored to bring Civic Type R to US in 2010
The current Si is much better than it's given credit for. People get so hung up on it's minor flaws that they forget it's a solid, fairly advanced chassis that has really lassoed in it's added weight. HART has had much success in the One Lap of America and Redline time attack events with the FG2. Several 8th gens are running 9 second 1/4 miles and they have proven to be one of the more stable cars in short track racing with little mods.
Maybe a return of the old, a very low production SiR package available for 25-28k US and it could be a winner. An Si with Type-R parts borrowed here and there. The 2008 Mugen Si is a pretty car but the 30K+ price tag made it just too much, taking til mid 2009 to sell all 1,000 made. Considering it's only real advantage was in the body kit and suspension (fixed one at that) really made made people think twice about it. Even I was approved for one at my dealer for the sum for 29.5k and opted for the regular Si for 8.5k less.

RE: Honda Rumored to bring Civic Type R to US in 2010
ive never done any research on the Euro Type R, and had no idea of its performance attributes till this thread...so until now my opinion has been based solely on appearance.
With that said, I LOVE THAT CAR! Its pretty obvious that most everyone else hates it, many calling it ugly. Unconventional, yes. Ugly, maybe. Still, when i first got the crx (and at that point it was still in stock HF trim and i knew nothing about it other than i wanted it) Everyone i knew said i looked like i backed into a wall...
I do agree with everyone that they should not bring it here. First off, im a die hard honda enthusiast, and hearing what most say it wouldnt go over that well and i dont want to see honda fail at anything. Second, the sedan is already here, if all they have to do is stuff it with bigger & better stuff...that sounds alot cheaper for honda and consumers alike.
RE: Honda Rumored to bring Civic Type R to US in 2010
Bigger? Stuff it? Type R's are about how much you can REMOVE...and big performance out of very little stuff. they're minimalistic. Not really ADDING in BIGGER stuff.
What ure talking making about isnt a type R. its a civic type Volkswagen.

lol, alright, fair enough. when i said "bigger n better" i was using it more as a figure of speech, not necessarily literally "bigger"...
although the headlight design looks alot bigger than the usdm sedans got.

It's about 85% the same. Stupid stuff that only the die hard JDM guys would call you out on. Many people still use Honda of Canada to source much of the conversion, and only getting the tell tell parts from Japan when it just can't be faked. Perhaps the biggest give away is the Type-R has an under spoiler while the CSX has the base model rear bumper.
