But really many sites offer B16 crate motors that push 215whp reliably on pump gas. With a little creativity you could build this yourself for a decent price. Best trick I found over the years is to collect all the parts as you can afford it, to include a service manual and tools (some can be obtained as loaner tools from shops).

Once you got them all put together you call up a few friends and have free pizza and beer/soda and get it done in a couple days. I've helped so many people this way, the first Honda motor I ever put my hand to went this way. Was a B18 built from a Dart block and all the top end parts, took him a year to get everything and it became a reality in a day and a half. We pulled the engine, tore it down, cleaned it, built it and put it back in.

My current build (engine side) is planned like this:

1st. Fully work head and IM to include cams, valve terrain, PnP, hand seated valves and cylinder matching.

2nd. Fully built 9:1 compression K24 block built ready for a direct bolt in for a 8th gen Civic.

3rd. Finish off the turbo parts list and bolt what I can to the block.

4th. Have a shop install engine and dyno tune.

Plan it like this but skip the shop install and it gets very cheap.

Stay on track, get something in there to get it running. Doesn't have to be a show stopper just something to free up the busted engine. Once you get the LS out, start from the ground up. Engine stands are cheap, get it on one and then put it in a shed and cover it. Collect the parts, even if it takes a year or so, then build it. It's much easier than you think and a year will go by in no time. The only real key is having some place (free and safe) to store the engine.

It's totally goin the your shed cody. Lol But the engine hoist thing to get the engine out of the car, I seen it for $30. I take it that that's a good deal. Idk how much an engine stand is though.

Yeah that's what I'm gonna have to do. But I have no place to work and I don't think my apartment manager would like an engine stand in the spare room.lol

For you I would recommend a slightly different approach. Stock up the parts and schedule with a shop or some knowledgeable buddies to get it done in a few days. Bum rides to work or whatever you need to but it's feasible if you plan it. It's all about planing.

The B16 is a great motor, just got to put in the time and energy for the game plan on how to attack it.
