Insurance.
Everyone says insurance is really, really expensive for a Type S. So, what do you pay?
Right now I pay almost $700 every three months. That's with full coverage on a 2001 Isuzu Trooper 5 Speed, and a 2006 Nissan Frontier SE 6 Speed. My mom, brother (20), and I are all insured on them. So I can only imagine if I get a Type S, even with just liability, it will be up a substantial amount.
Im Ben, 18.

RE: Insurance.
Yeah, it will be like $900-$1000 per your 3 months plan, if you add the car to that policy. Insurance these days is very expensive, the more popular the company the higher insurance.
Smaller companies tend to be cheaper. Also if you have some lawyers in the family or friends, they can help you find a tiny company that will have cheap insurance for you.
There are some other ways to find out about some honest companies. I went with some unknown company that my father found.
Shit like Geico, Progressive, E-surance, All State etc...are all rip-off enterprises. They have the highest rates and on top of that, they have these legal scams that later on increase your policy. Usually happens a few weeks after you get their policy, they will find an excuse to raise it. Those companies are also bad with insuring multiple vehicles.

RE: Insurance.
I pay like $88 a monthfor two cars, and use Progressive. Used to be $82 a month but a ticket showed up on my record just before time to renew my policy. The only claims I have ever made with them paid out quickly, within days. They do cost a bit more than a local adjuster but I like them and have never had any issues, not true for the other big companies. Certain ones have given me the run around in the past, both as my insurance company and the company of the person that caused the accident.
Cop once caught a guy hitting my car(my DSM, it had a history of getting hit in parking lots) then driving off, even got it on his dash cam. The cop chased the guy for 3 miles before getting him to pull over. Guy plead guilty to hit and run, then his insurance company gave me the run around on paying off. First they gave me the run around and took over 3 months to begin the process to pay for my car. Then they insisted I take my car to some hole in the wall repair shop as apposed to the one that I had all my custom work. This is the general pattern when dealing with larger companies, I don't know if I've just had good luck with Progressive or if they are really a good company but I've been good with them so far.

RE: Insurance.
You are young bro, insurance on your own is going to be a lot. My little sister stayed on my parent's insurance til she was 25, in fact it was when she got married lol.

RE: Insurance.
Age, credit score, driving record, area and car will all effect your insurance payment. I'm sure I get a leg up for my car being a sedan, but it's still an Si.

my brother is in the military, pays almost nothing.
Isn't there some kind of plan that they provide for you guys? You shouldn't be paying even close to what you mentioned. My bro pays $400 every 6 months.

my dad was in the navy for 26 years. USAA is availible to all military personel and direct relations...so i got that. for full coverage on an 02 escape 4x4, liability on a 97 lumina and 91 CRX plus 2 atv policies and renters insurance we are paying like $138 a month. compared to the $198 without the lumina and atvs before we switched thats hella awesome.

Daaannggg. I can't wait to be 30....and a female. Seriously, that's crazy cheap. I know we get the safe driver discount, and I think the home owners discount too. But knowing my insurance company, that discount is probably like 5 bucks. Lol
