RE: need help setting a p72 (chime in all you GSR owners!)
wait! this helps!
"Most Auto Ecus have a jumper at RP11 and have a blank space at RP12. Move RP11 to RP12 and you now have a Manual ECU. Here a closeup of the JDM Jumper configuration: Auto Jumpers
R96, C49 and R82 seem to be related to some Auto trans controls but can be left in place.
Some ECUs (Like the JDM P13-900) have resistors in both places. You can just remove both of them and replace RP12 with a jumper wire."

RE: need help setting a p72 (chime in all you GSR owners!)
but then theres this guy:
"i am trying to figure out why this thread even existing. assuming other hondas are like my accord. if you have an automatic and you change the tranny to 5 spd, just disconnect the tcu. the tranny is now manually controlled so the ecu doesn't need a reference to tell the tranny when to shift. my car has been running fine without and any cel since i did my swap jan 07. and many other before me have, did, and are doing the same thing. til i get my hondata up and running i will keep my auto ecu connected. "
so i dunno which one you want to go with

the rp11 and 12 thing makes sense
and all in all if it doesnt work out you only lost 30 bucks
and may be able to put it back to normal if it doesnt pan out :/

what hese saying though is completely true. thats how most of the auto- manual swappers do it that arnt messing with chiped or potentially chiped ecu's.

RE: need help setting a p72 (chime in all you GSR owners!)
yea i like the idea of just not plugging in something a lot more than this unsoldering stuff
i would try that first before i went to my ecu with a soldering iron but thats just me

i am curious, however, to see if it really is that simple as to move the resistor over

RE: need help setting a p72 (chime in all you GSR owners!)
soooooo ef that idea. the p72 that i got was throwing a shit ton of codes i couldnt get rid of. i cant really complain. i only got it for about 30bux. im more mad that i had to wait.
-word to the wise: i just found out that the reason why nobody wants the jdm p72 is that everything inside is serperatly soldered. you also cant use it on a boosted car because u cant put boost control on a jdm ecu. go figure. not that it would matter to me since my car will be n/a. but i now know why the boost junkies dont want this ecu. tunable; yes. conventional; no.

Didn't I say somewhere in this thread that many people don't go with this ECU, and it's bad?

- ya, i wanted to see it work too. lol. effin mofo's.
--i ended up snagging a genuine jun chipped p28 that came out of an eg6. it came with a custom basemap nearly identical to what my set up is, speed govenor removed, and my redline is upped to 9k, and it was only used for about 2k miles. awsome.
